Peer Review Process
Authors are required to upload a draft manuscript of their article through the OJS (Open Journal Systems) platform of Pena : Jurnal Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi. Subsequently, the editor will conduct an initial screening to assess the suitability of the draft article. The criteria for assessment in the initial screening stage include the alignment of the article's topic with the scope of Pena and the adherence to the article writing style template provided by Pena. If the draft article is deemed suitable, the editor will assign a reviewer to assess the article's substantive quality.
Reviewers will evaluate the article based on the assessment form established by Pena. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the subject matter of the article. There is no direct communication between reviewers and authors, both during the review process and after a decision on the article is made. The results of the reviewer's assessment will be attached when the decision is communicated to the authors through the Pena OJS system.
The possible review outcomes are as follows:
1. Accept submission (accepted without revisions)
2. Revision required (accepted with revisions)
3. Resubmit for review (needs improvement, resubmit, and re-review)
4. Reject the paper (rejected)
After an article is accepted, the editor will appoint a layout editor to check for plagiarism compliance with Pena's guidelines, which stipulate a maximum of 25% similarity. The layout editor will also review the formatting of tables, figures, and references used. At this stage, authors may still be asked to make adjustments to the article related to writing or editorial issues. Once this stage is completed, the layout editor will adjust the appearance and upload it to the Pena OJS system. The entire review and publication process typically takes between 4 to 8 weeks.
