Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of CEO characteristics and intellectual capital on firm performance, measured using Tobin's Q. The population in this study comprises energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2019–2023. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, resulting in a sample of 41 companies and 205 observations. The analytical model employed in this research is Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), facilitated by the Warp-PLS 8.0 software. The results of the study indicate that firm performance is influenced by CEO characteristics and intellectual capital, where CEO tenure has no significant effect on firm performance as measured by Tobin's Q, CEO education and intellectual capital have a positive effect, while CEO duality has a negative effect on firm performance as measured by Tobin's Q.
